Examining Utah’s Pioneering State AI Law

Utah has enacted the country’s first state disclosure law for all generative AI (Gen AI) communications, while also creating the first state AI office in the country. Imposing narrow obligations around Gen AI use and holding companies responsible for what their bots say and do, it “is definitely a big step forward and goes quite a bit further than any existing law,” Snell & Wilmer partner Tony Caldwell told the Cybersecurity Law Report.
